Which Information is stored in the TSM Database?
The TSM Database holds information about virtually everything concerning the TSM Server and Clients. To extract information, you can:
- Query the Database using specialized, graphical tools, like our freeware General Storage ActView Home Edition program.
- Link the Database via ODBC to Programs like MS Access or Excel.
- Replicate the Databases of many TSM Servers into a single, central repository for advanced High End Data Mining and central Monitoring like our General Storage ActView Enterprise Edition.
If you just want to take a quick look at specific information, you can also query the database directly using standard SQL queries. Check our TSM Code bits section for some more advanced examples and how you can store and reuse SQL Scripts for TSM Server and Client automation tasks.
All you need is a TSM Administrative Command line. If you installed the Administrative Client, this program is called DSMADMC. You can also use the Administrative Web Client with a Browser by choosing "Show command line" from the Options drop down menu in the top right corner of the header frame.
